Meet your Choir Director!



Katherine Cotten - Director of Choirs


Ms. Katherine Cotten is a North Junior High and Pearce HS Choir Alumna who grew-up in Richardson, Tx. Ms. Cotten grew-up performing in the Children’s and Youth Chorus of Greater Dallas as well as the Dallas Opera Children’s Chorus. After graduating from JJ Pearce High School, Ms. Cotten attended Abilene Christian University to study Music Education and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. She was accepted in two international vocal performance study programs in Italy and Austria, through Westminster Choir College. After graduating from ACU, Ms. Cotten taught voice in RISD schools for a semester and then became a Choral Director in Abilene, Texas. During her time in Abilene, Ms. Cotten’s Choirs were successful and earned UIL Sweepstakes. Throughout the past several years, she has performed in various professional ensembles such as Dallas Chorus Festival, Voci d’Amici, Abilene Chamber Singers, and currently Inspirata. Inspirata is a vocal chamber group that originates in the Arts District of downtown Dallas and currently performs in areas throughout the Dallas area. Ms. Cotten currently attends SMU during the summers to receive all three levels of Kodály Certification in the Choral Track. Ms. Cotten is excited to be in her home district teaching with the wonderful directors of Pearce Area Choirs at Parkhill Junior High!
